The northwest is far from being immune to the current wave of foreclosures and repossessions. There are many homes here at various price points in different stages of distress. They range from lower price and size to near mansion like homes. Some are merely sitting on city size lots and there are places with enormous acreage plots. The thing that they have in common with each other and the millions of other homes across the country today is that they have fallen into foreclosure and as a result were repossessed because the people could no longer afford to own them.

The value of property here ahs suffered the same fate as that of the places around the country and most ot them are worth merely a few pennies on the dollar of the value that they held only a couple short years ago. Homes here that went for over a million dollars five years ago are struggling to even get listed and be seen at two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

It is fairly easy to look at that set of numbers and see that if you owned that home and it was not paid for, there is no way that you could afford to continue paying on something that is losing so much money.

People have begun to look at houses like a stock. Once it gets to the point that it is losing money and you have no chance of recouping the value, it is time to sell off and take the loss.

This is a complete shift in thought patterns from the way houses were always looked at in prior years when it was always considered an investment worth keeping. People just don't have faith in the economy these days needed to sustain that type of thinking.
